French Flea Markets: the best kick-off to summer {this Saturday!}

We're not exactly sure when we started our flea markets at Pomegranate: ten years ago? Twelve? Since then (whenever "then" was), they have grown in size and quality to something we are so proud of.

And the first one of summer 2013 will be here this Saturday, June 8, from 10-4. It is completely, absolutely full – the biggest one ever, and it's going to be a madhouse. A fun madhouse. We have vendors coming from all over the state (and beyond); some are individuals who just happen to have a treasure trove of vintage goodies and have never shown at an antique show or flea market before. Some are seasoned "junkers" who have been collecting, fixing, and upcycling during all those cold winter months to bring you their wonderful finds. And we have a few fabulous artisans mixed in who use vintage bits incorporated into new jewelry, clothing, and paper goods. Some show at each market; others can fit only one or two in, so it's always different and full of surprises.

We hope you have a bit of mad money saved up, because it's going to be great. Speaking of mad money, here are some tips for good and happy shopping at our fleas.

Bring cash. Little bills, 20s, lots. Cash is still the best, although many vendors can now take credit cards via the Square system. Not to say you should use a credit card for a $5 purchase, but those bigger items that you must have? Probably not a problem. Bring a good size market tote or two with some bubble wrap or tissue at the bottom. Once you buy something, you want to wrap and run. Bring a garden hat, sunglasses, comfy shoes. It will be warm, and with the amount of vendors we have, it could take a while to see it all...

Here's just a partial list (in no particular order) of some of the vendors coming this Saturday. Check back for more pictures this week (of course, I'll post pix after the market, but by then, you'll be crying over everything that already sold!).
